Solo or as a couple: how off-road trip costs work

An off-road trip can be quoted per vehicle or per person, and that changes what one or two travellers pay. Offroad Dilijan publishes no prices; this page explains what to ask so you can compare offers fairly.

Per vehicle or per person

Ask first whether a quote is per person or per vehicle. With a per-vehicle price, the same total is shared by fewer people when you travel alone or as a couple, so compare the total you will pay, not a headline figure.

A private trip can offer more flexibility; a shared group trip follows the provider’s schedule. Ask whether a shared option exists for your date and what is actually flexible before paying.

What a price should include

Before you agree, check what the quote covers:

  • Transport, and whether pickup from your starting point is included. Do not assume a transfer is.
  • Guiding. A driver providing transport is not necessarily a guide who explains the sites.
  • Meals and any activity fees.
  • Waiting time and the return journey.

Do not treat a picnic, drone filming or a particular photo stop as included unless it is confirmed in the offer.

Options that need no 4×4

  • Haghartsin Monastery: paved road and parking; reachable by car, taxi or tour from Dilijan.
  • Lake Parz: reached by road from Dilijan, with a short loop walk. Agree waiting time or return pickup and the total fare with your driver in advance.
  • Old Dilijan and the city park on foot. See Things to do in Dilijan.
  • Hiking up Dimats is possible, but it is a proper mountain hike of moderate to challenging difficulty. Go only in good weather and tell someone your route. See the Dimats guide.

Starting from Yerevan

From Yerevan, allow for the return journey as well as the mountain itself. Ask for a realistic total duration, including transfers and stops, before comparing a trip from Yerevan with one that starts in Dilijan.

What to send with your enquiry

  • Your date and the number of people.
  • Your starting point and whether you need pickup.
  • The places you want to see and the time you have.

We reply with route and season notes. Where a partner operator may suit your plan, we may suggest one; if so, agree the final route, price, inclusions, payment and cancellation terms with them before confirming anything.

FAQ

How much does a trip to Mount Dimats cost?

It depends on the operator, date, group size and route. Offroad Dilijan does not set prices. If an operator is suggested, ask them for the total price, whether it is per person or per vehicle, and any extra costs.

Can I join a shared group as a solo traveller?

Ask the operator whether a shared trip runs on your date. A shared trip follows the provider’s schedule; a private trip is more flexible.

Is pickup included?

Do not assume so. Send your starting point and agree the meeting place and any pickup before confirming.

Sources and planning notes

This page brings together notes from our destination guides, checked on 24–25 October 2026. It is planning guidance, not a same-day road report or a timed tour. Confirm access, conditions and arrangements for your date.
