How the stops fit together

Published hiking estimates refer to different tracks and directions: Armenian Explorer lists Parz → Goshavank at 6.5 km/about 2.5 hours; HIKEArmenia lists Goshavank → Parz at 7.2 km/about 4 hours. Choose the specific track and direction, check conditions, and add stops and transfers. Arrange pickup at the finish. Do not automatically add Mount Dimats or other visits to a hiking day. Compare the three mapped Dimats starts and one-way GPX distances. A planned track does not confirm current vehicle access.

What to know before you go

  • Season: late spring to early autumn is easiest; May–June and September–October are the most scenic. In winter, check road and weather conditions first.
  • Monasteries: these are places of worship — dress modestly and keep your voice down inside the churches.
  • Hiking: choose the track and direction, download it in advance and arrange pickup at the finish. Snow, mud and weather may change suitability; a one-way itinerary does not mean the trail can only be walked in one direction.
  • Distances: figures in the guides are approximate and based on public listings; facilities and seasonal services can change.
  • Languages: every guide is available in English, Russian and Armenian — use the language switch at the top of the page.
